Münchausen syndrome by proxy, a strange form of abuse

People suffering from Münchausen syndrome simulate all the symptoms of an illness in order to draw the attention of doctors and carers to themselves. They may also cause symptoms to appear in someone close to them, usually a child. This is called "Münchhausen syndrome by proxy", also known as "Meadow syndrome".
