Migration waves in Switzerland

Switzerland has been welcoming large numbers of Ukrainians fleeing war for several weeks now. This is not the first time a wave of migration has hit our country. What happened to the Balkan nationals, the economic migrants from southern Europe? What has become of the descendants of the boat people? Have these numerous migrants enriched our country?
