Lʹidentity: an illusion?

About everywhere in the world, there is a widespread fear of losing one's identity in the face of globalization, technological developments or the rise of certain religions such as lʹislam. The question of identity is at the heart of current political debates. But what are we talking about when we talk about identity? Is it illusory to oppose globalization and the nation-state, or Islam and secularism?
