Lʹamitié and lʹamour for self-knowledge

The intimacy we build with our closest friends, our lovers and our family are all opportunities to open ourselves up to the other and to otherness. But all these relationships also open us up to ourselves: those closest to us hold up mirrors that reveal parts of our inner selves.
