The Internet and the illusion of freedom

Today, we are a long way from the tremendous potential for freedom promised by the Internet in its early days. The network of networks had the potential to bring people together. Ideas were finally to be exchanged without limit across the globe. Humanity would rise, at last. But in 2016, humans are rather entangled in the web. Nauseating ideas click, web giants phagocytize Internet users by imposing insane conditions of use. Not happy? No surfing! In 2016, the web imprisons us more than it liberates us.
