Intercity mobility: What roadmap for Switzerland?

The population growth and economic expansion forecast for Switzerland between now and 2040 point to a sharp increase in traffic. According to federal traffic forecasts, some 385 kilometers, or around 20% of the national highway network, will be regularly overloaded by 2040. To meet this projection, the Federal Council is proposing a systematic expansion of the national highway network to 2x3 lanes.
