How to beat a cold without decongestants?

Itʹs winter and with the snow and cold comes... the common cold. The temptation is then to swallow a decongestant, a kind of medicine that loosens the mucous membrane of our nose and sinuses. Widely used, these pseudoephedrine-based drugs nevertheless have serious side effects, particularly in people suffering from high blood pressure. In its latest opinion, the European Medicines Agency advises against their use, without however prohibiting their marketing.
