A history of witch-hunting - The Michée Chauderon affair

On this spring Tuesday morning in April, on the Plainpalais plain, beyond the Porte Neuve in Geneva, crowds throng the gallows that have just been erected. The year is 1652, and in a few moments, a woman will be hanged and burned for evil. She's in her fifties. Her name? Michée Chauderon... "The witch", as some people like to call her.
