Glucose-enhanced stem cells to fight osteoarthritis
Légende
Scientists at the University of Geneva have made a breakthrough in the treatment of osteoarthritis, a disease that deteriorates cartilage and mainly affects the elderly. Their work, published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics, involves the injection of stem cells, combined with a gradually released glucose-hyaluronic acid, into inflamed joints. Results: Stem cell survival is increased and cartilage regeneration is stimulated.
