While Catholic churches and Reformed temples are emptying out, evangelical services are booming. Ceremonies without organs or bells, but with emotional praise and preaching that appeal to young people and families alike. Born of the Reformation, these free churches are financed by their members, who represent 3% of the population (250,000 people, including 42,000 in French-speaking Switzerland).
