Day-care centers: professions serving the little ones

Crèches play an essential role in the lives of children and their families. They are places of discovery, socialization and education. Between 2020 and 2024, the number of crèches in Switzerland will rise from 3,169 to 3,845. This growth was accompanied by an increase in the number of available places, which reached 92,513 nationwide. Despite this expansion, the work of childcare professionals - the overwhelming majority of whom are women - remains under-recognized and under-appreciated.
