Colds, gastroenteritis, angina: why do the "old viruses" keep coming back?

Colds, gastroenteritis, angina: seasonal viruses are back in Switzerland. So much so that pediatric wards at the HUG are saturated with cases of bronchiolitis in small children. Last year, there were few infectious diseases circulating, apart from Covid-19. Why?
