It was unloved until the 60s. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. We know its contribution to the balance of nature: it eats around 3 small rodents a night. Professor Alexandre Roulin of the University of Lausanne, a leading specialist in the barn owl, has highlighted the increase in the stress hormone corticosterone in animals living in regions with intensive agriculture (little food for the owl) and in places that are too noisy.
