The Anthropocene, a new geological era?

Science considers us to be living in the Holocene, a geological epoch spanning the last 10,000 years. Today, however, some believe that we have tipped over into a new era: the Anthropocene, the moment when Man himself becomes a geological force capable of altering the earth's equilibrium.
