Will we all be immortal tomorrow?

Since the dawn of time, man has dreamed of immortality. The quest for immortality can be found in Egyptian, Sumerian and Greek mythology, as well as in the legends of the Middle Ages. Today, technological advances in medicine are pushing back the frontiers of death ever further. And the transhumanist project promises us eternal life plugged into a computer, a survival of the mind over the body. So, will we ever live to be a thousand? What makes us think so? And do we really want to be immortal?
