The animal, my equal?

Actions by anti-speciesists, popularity of vegan diets, initiatives against animal experimentation, success of the Animalist Party at the European elections etc. the defense of an "egalitarian" approach between humans and animals is gaining ground in our societies. Our sensitivity to the animal condition seems to be gaining ground. Is animal rights "THE" battle of the early 21st century?
