Tense parliamentary elections in Iraq

Iraqis are voting for the renewal of their Parliament, in a climate of insecurity unmatched for five years. 9040 candidates are in the running for these first legislative elections. At stake is the post of Prime Minister, for which the Shiite Nouri Al-Maliki is running for a third consecutive term.
