Journey through a rift in space-time

A group of explorers use an interstellar ship to travel through a wormhole (which connects two regions of space-time) to cover previously impassable distances. This is the scenario of "Interstellar", Christopher Nolan's new film. But is traveling through a wormhole scientifically credible?
