How serious is it, Doctor, to put off until later what should be done today?

If it doesn't always have consequences, procrastination can sometimes have its share of unfortunate effects. Why do we procrastinate? How can we resist the urge to put things off? And besides, shouldn't we sometimes allow ourselves not to do everything right away?
