History and the City: Universal values?

"Why have we chosen to devote the Festival Histoire et Cité to "Believe, make believe"? Some would say, quite rightly, that history is not intended to take a stand on the truth value of a belief, whether religious or not. However, our current situation never ceases to question what we should believe, who we should believe in, why we should believe, or how we can disbelieve.
