Germany: the far right takes root in the political landscape

Three German Länder - Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt - renewed their parliaments. The results exceeded poll forecasts, which predicted a breakthrough for the anti-immigration AdF party, which took between 12 and 24% of the vote depending on the region. The 18 months ahead of Germany's federal elections in 2017 are thus shaping up to be laborious ones for the German Chancellor.
