A crucified childhood

Until 1981, over 100,000 children in Switzerland were forcibly placed in families or institutions. Because their parents were too poor or judged not to be virtuous. A veritable hell, the Marini Institute in the canton of Fribourg housed thousands of children. Many were beaten, raped, and some may even have died as a result of their mistreatment.
