Commodities and the curse of plenty

For more than a decade, raw materials have boosted growth in emerging countries, particularly in Latin America. With copper, gold and oil prices plummeting, it's a rude awakening, especially if the governments in place didn't think ahead to diversify their production or create stability funds.
