How does the brain decide it's time to sleep? This is one of the questions occupying biologist Laurence Bayer, a researcher at Geneva University Hospitals and the University of Geneva. At the HUG Sleep Medicine Center, attached to the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, she studies the physiology of sleep, its regulatory mechanisms and the situations in which this balance is disturbed.
