Spring is gaining ground, but not the forests

Global warming is bringing spring forward and lengthening the growing season for trees. We might therefore expect forests to capture more CO₂. But a study conducted by WSL in Birmensdorf shows that droughts and heatwaves wipe out this potential gain.
