Return of the angels

There are those who believe in angels, others not at all. In Switzerland, almost one in two people believe that angels and supernatural beings watch over us, according to a 2019 survey by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office. What accounts for the success of these messengers from heaven? How do these celestial figures influence our imagination? And why on earth do we give angels wings, when there is no mention of them in the Bible?
