Red alert on Swiss lakes and rivers

The average temperature of the surface waters of our rivers and lakes is rising steadily, and low-water levels are falling. This has consequences not only for ecosystems, but also for water uses in Switzerland. The temporary closure of the Beznau nuclear power plant in the summer of 2025 is just one example. How can we prepare for a world where water is becoming increasingly scarce? Do we need to change our water protection legislation?
