PFAS: the "eternal pollutants" that threaten our health and the lʹenvironment

Used since the 1940s in thousands of everyday products - waterproof clothing, non-stick pans, food packaging - per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) are everywhere. Their extreme stability makes them virtually indestructible: they persist in water, soil, wildlife and even in our blood. As eight motions on these substances are debated in Parliament, the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences calls on political, economic and scientific players to work together to prevent their proliferation.
