While the current U.S. administration seems to take a malicious pleasure in cutting its teeth on Switzerland, it's not the first time. In 1945, the United States and the Soviet Union criticized Switzerland for its neutrality, but above all for its intense trade with Germany during the Second World War. To get off the blacklists of the war's victors, negotiations were needed. An agreement that looked impossible was reached in Washington in 1946.
