Lʹéducation sexuelle, ça sʹapprend pas dans les choux
In Switzerland, all children and young people have the right to sexual health education. It is taught to them in order to lead a healthy, fulfilling and consensual relational and sexual life. It is also a tool to protect children against sexual abuse and violence, to prevent sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies, and to combat stereotypes and discrimination. While parents are in the front line when it comes to educating, the school has a complementary role to play, and has a duty to provide objective, scientific information. But the subject remains debated, and a minority of parents contest this comprehensive sex education, arguing that it should stick to the purely biological aspects. At a time when teenagers oscillate between lʹIA and porn for information, what place is there for positive sex education?
