Korsakoff syndrome: cognitive impairment due to alcohol and lack of vitamin B1
Légende
Korsakoff's syndrome is a cognitive disorder linked to alcohol consumption and a deficiency of vitamin B1, thiamine. It causes severe memory impairment, with difficulty in forming new memories, patchy old memories, fabrications and often poor awareness of disorders. Other signs may be associated, such as problems with balance and walking. This pathology remains little-known, even though it is largely preventable if identified and treated in time.
