Guest speaker: Cécile Münch-Alligné, professor of hydropower at HES SO Valais

The guest fil rouge is Cécile Münch-Alligné, professor of hydropower at the HES SO Valais in Sion and coordinator of the Hydro Alps Lab group. She explains why, in her view, support for hydropower needs to be encouraged more than ever. Three avenues are mentioned: upgrading existing dams, building new ones, and promoting smaller-scale projects known as small-scale hydropower. One of the challenges of these developments is to protect the environment, and in particular aquatic flora and fauna.
