Fake cops but real victims

It's a new and fast-growing form of scam: fake police scams. Scammers mainly target elderly, lonely and vulnerable people, who, believing they are dealing with the police, confidently hand over credit cards, cash and sometimes even jewelry. Faced with the scale of these scams, cantonal police forces are stepping up their calls for vigilance. But nothing works. Today, the victims number in the hundreds and the sums stolen represent millions of francs, a real headache for the forces of law and order, who half-heartedly admit their powerlessness to curb this phenomenon.
