European first: successful partial heart transplant in a child

The HUG has performed a European first: a partial heart transplant in a 12-year-old child with complex congenital heart disease. Only the aortic and pulmonary valves were transplanted, allowing the original heart to be preserved. These biological valves, capable of growing with the child, offer a durable solution without anticoagulant treatment.
