In the land of neat and tidy, it's a hidden, shameful reality that escapes even the statistics, because people who suffer from Diogenes syndrome don't ask for help. Contrary to popular belief, they are not necessarily elderly. More and more young people are holed up at home, walled in behind their mountain of objects and garbage. For fear of the future, for fear of others. How did they get there? How can we understand this mental derangement?
