Bonobos: female leadership
Légende
In contrast to closely related chimpanzees, bonobos are dominated by females. A study conducted by Harvard University and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology shows that their power is based on strong alliances. These strong social bonds, described by University of Neuchâtel researcher Emilie Genty, explain a hierarchy where solidarity outweighs physical strength and offers an atypical social model among primates.
