An app to determine the future of European vineyards

A team from UNIGE and Agroscope has created a mobile app that uses climate data to show what European vineyards will look like in the coming decades. The tool compares each estate with regions whose current climate corresponds to its future climate, based on six bioclimatic indices linked to heat, frost, extremes and disease. Projections reveal a shift in viticultural aptitude towards the north and higher altitudes, as well as increased pathogen pressure, helping winegrowers to anticipate and adapt their practices.
